J. Earl Wivell, FAAHC J. Earl Wivell has over 20 years experience in healthcare consulting. As one of the founding Partners and current President, he has led MEDCO in its growth for the past 17 years to become a respected national healthcare consulting organization. MEDCO has provided value added consulting services to over 150 client hospitals in 23 States under Mr. Wivell's direction. He has broad experience in the areas of organization improvement and development, implementation of hospital re-design and strategic restructuring programs, and hospital cost accounting systems. His significant depth of experience has been gained through the assessment and analysis of all hospital areas and departments. A partial listing of Mr. Wivell's experience include: Directed an engagement for a three hospital system that reviewed the strategic direction of services and assessed the feasibility of alternative service delivery mechanisms. Assisted a 400 bed hospital redefine the organization of its Anesthesiology services. Lead hospital-wide operations improvement engagements that resulted in actual cost reductions and service improvements of from $2.0 to $4.0 million per client. His experience ranges from serving as a contract CFO to managing hospital cost improvement programs. J. Earl Wivell has assisted hospitals ranging in size from 50 beds to 750 beds. Mr. Wivell received his degree in Business Administration from LaSalle University in 1965. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society, the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and a Fellow in the American Association of Healthcare Consultants where he currently serves on the Board of Directors as Chairperson. He has published articles and papers on operations and cost improvement, and cost accounting system integration. He has presented management development workshops for various organizations.
