Operations Assessment - A comprehensive diagnostic review of all areas to identify and quantify potential cost and service improvement opportunities. Forms the cornerstone in developing cost reduction strategies and in determining priorities through a review of cross departmental processes, hospital and department process performance indicators, costs, and organization structures. Focused Improvement Strategy - An organization-wide effort composed of three initiatives including the review, assessment, and benchmarking of programs, outcomes, costs and services. Performance Management - Provides the necessary information critical to managing FTEs and labor cost. MEDCO's validated procedure level database of labor standards serves as the foundation to building hospital specific standards reflecting the hospital's unique characteristics. Labor standards may be combined into a client's existing productivity management system or used in MEDCO's computerized hospital-wide Operations Improvement System to manage staffing and labor costs over time. Perioperative Services - Analysis of the complete surgical process to develop solutions that maximize physical facilities and reduce patient and physician waiting, procedure delays, and streamline processes. Primary areas are the Operating Room, PACU, registration function, PAT, Anesthesia, Day Surgery and support areas. Service Consolidation Analysis - Analysis of the operational and financial feasibility of consolidating multiple service sites into one location, i.e. Laboratory, Dietary, Material Management, Laundry, or Business Offices.
